A large fire has broken out in central Berlin, according to German media.
The rescue service was alerted just before 8 am on Thursday morning to a fire in a restaurant in the Mitte district, with "a large number of injured". Over 100 firefighters are battling to extinguish the fire, which is said to have spread throughout the entire building, where there are also apartments.
In the morning, local media report that the fire, described by the rescue service as a "mass casualty incident", is under control. At least four people have been taken to hospital with suspected smoke poisoning and several people have been taken care of by rescue personnel on site.
No one is seriously injured.
