Malmö FF storm ahead for the gold – crushed Häcken

Two delicious finishes and a violent tackle that could just as well have resulted in a red card. Anders Christiansen leaves no one unmoved. In the form he is in now, he is invaluable to the Malmö FF that is storming towards the championship gold and embarking on a new European adventure.

MFF gratefully accepted the help from Gais (3-0 against second-placed Djurgården) and appreciated the fact that the Elfsborg-Hammarby meeting did not get a winner.

Then the future Swedish champions of the Allsvenskan jubilee year 2024 went in and did their job - and with ease. 4-0 against Häcken means an eleven-point lead down to second-placed Djurgården.

It took seven minutes to rip open a wound in Häcken. Busanello served Anders Christiansen and the Dane pressed, as they say, distinctly in the lead goal at Eleda Stadium.

His third goal in four matches and the midfielder is back in earnest, in old good style.

More was to come.

Near red card

But he should be glad he got to stay on the pitch. The tackle from behind against Mikkel Rygaard Jensen was violent, to say the least, but referee Kristoffer Karlsson settled for a warning.

It's a top match, we play to win. That's how we play with each other. It was a hard tackle, but I got the ball, defends Christiansen in the interview with Max.

The tackle made the match heat up - and the Dane was a given target for irritated Häcken players.

In terms of play, it was Malmö who had most of the best in the first half, but according to Christiansen, the performance ability was too low.

We get so many counter-attacks that we don't do well enough. At least we should have opportunities to win 2-0 or 3-0.

Rangers next on Thursday

Whereupon Christiansen took matters into his own hands and offered a dream goal to 2-0 directly after the break. An alert turn and a shot that went in off the post. Then it was enough. Christiansen stepped off to standing ovations.

Isaac Kiese Thelin and Erik Botheim then added a goal each.

Malmö FF has a thing or two to look forward to this autumn and winter. Besides securing another championship gold, the 24th in order and the fourth of the 20s, European League matches await.

As early as Thursday, Glasgow Rangers will visit Malmö.

Coach Henrik Rydström is matching his broad squad properly. Compared to the 0-0 against Gais last time, he made six changes against Häcken. Into the starting eleven came Johan Dahlin, Colin Rösler, Sergio Peña, Christiansen, Hugo Bolin, and Kiese Thelin.
