Malmö's disappointment – points dropped against the second-to-last team

Malmö doesn't get it done at Guldfågeln arena in Kalmar. Defeat last year and only a draw this year, after Hugo Bolin fixed 2–2 for the league leaders at the end of the second half. I don't think the match picture is a 2–2-match, says Malmö coach Henrik Rydström to Max.

Malmö FF's nightmare week continues. After the heavy loss at home against Sparta Prague in the CL playoffs earlier in the week, the Skåne team was seeking revenge in the Allsvenskan.

But it didn't turn out that way.

Instead, Malmö dropped points against second-to-last Kalmar, and thus lost important points in the Allsvenskan top struggle.

But it could have been even worse.

After an hour, Kalmar's 18-year-old center back Vince Osuji stepped forward in a set piece situation and scored 2–1 for the home team.

"Have had a tendency"

Malmö took the lead early, but for the third match in a row, Malmö has lost a winning lead. Something that coach Rydström has noticed.

When we have a slightly worse period in the matches, we have had a tendency to let go, or even like today, let in two goals, he says to Max.

At that point, it looked like Malmö would get zero points. But then 21-year-old Hugo Bolin stepped forward and scored the equalizer in the far corner.

"We are better"

The match ended 2–2, even though Malmö and especially substitute Taha Ali tried to get a decisive goal.

Right now, we're not getting the full payoff from our playing advantage and chances. We're not scoring the goals we should, says Rydström and continues:

I don't think the match picture is a 2–2 match, I think we are better. But that period where we are bad and Kalmar is good, we get punished. We get punished hard there.

Thus, both Hammarby and Djurgården have the chance to catch up with the reigning champions, who had a ten-point lead over second-place Hammarby before the round. Moreover, Hammarby now has one less match played, and Djurgården two.
