A man in his 40s is acquitted of suspicion of violating the aviation ordinance after flying a drone in Malmö during the Eurovision Song Contest, reports Sydsvenskan.
During the event, there was a temporary flight ban in the area due to security reasons, and the man was stopped by the police when he launched the drone.
He risked being fined but was let off thanks to an earlier ruling from the court of appeal. A person in similar circumstances was also acquitted.
The district court writes in its ruling that the flight ban was not announced through, for example, signage on the spot, and that the prosecutor was unable to explain how the accused man could have found out about it. The information was only published for "civil and military aviation".
Another Malmö resident was also charged with violating the flight ban during the Eurovision Song Contest, but the outcome of that case is unknown.
