The atmosphere between France and Argentina in football is still toxic. After the Olympic Games quarterfinal between the teams, a massive brawl broke out between several players and leaders from both teams.

The brawl continued for several minutes, and according to AFP, it continued down into the player tunnel.

The countries have had an ongoing rivalry since the World Championship final in 2022 in Qatar, which has occasionally escalated.

Besides the brawl during the Olympic Games, Argentina's men's national team got into trouble after winning the Copa América.

In a live broadcast of Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez, several players were heard and seen singing a racist chant about the French players. The chant was first known during the World Championship 2022.

The brawl on Friday broke out after France won and advanced to the Olympic Games semifinal in men's football. A goal after just five minutes was decisive.

Michael Olise, who played for Crystal Palace last year, took a corner that Jean-Philippe Mateta, who plays for Crystal Palace, headed in.

France won 1–0 in Bordeaux and will now face Egypt. In the other semifinal, Morocco will meet Spain.
