Now the Social Democrats want Environment and Climate Minister Romina Pourmokhtari (L) to come to the Riksdag's Environment and Agriculture Committee to explain herself.
Misleading the Swedish people in this way is beneath all criticism, says the party's spokesperson on climate issues, Anna-Caren Sätherberg.
In interviews, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) and Pourmokhtari have called the more optimistic scenario a "main scenario", but there is no such thing according to the Environmental Protection Agency, which produced the figures.
There are many uncertainties when creating scenarios, so we have produced two different ones. We assess that both are equally likely, says Sara Almqvist, unit manager at the Environmental Protection Agency, to SVT.
Pourmokhtari rejects the idea that she would have chosen to ignore a scenario and tells SVT that she was only presented with one "main scenario":
I haven't sat with two scenarios and chosen the best. Our authorities have presented the scenarios to the Government Offices, then the Government Offices have made their calculations and then we get the calculations, says the minister.
Sätherberg, however, calls the action "number trickery".
Now Romina has to come to the committee and answer about this main scenario, she says.
However, it will take some time before the committee can summon the minister. The first meeting after the summer is in mid-September.
