The US labor market is holding up relatively well. In September, employment in the private sector increased by 143,000 jobs, according to the monthly figures from the payroll management company ADP.
This was more than the 103,000 new jobs in August and also higher than the economists' average forecast of 125,000 jobs.
On Friday, the official US job figures from the Labor Department will be released.
