Czech Karolina Muchova is clear for the semifinal in the US Open for the second year in a row. In the quarterfinal, she knocked out Beatriz Haddad Maia, Brazil, with 6–1, 6–4.
Muchova, only ranked 52nd in the world, has had major injury problems and after last year's US Open, she didn't play tennis until this summer again. Now, either world number one Iga Swiatek, Poland, or home hope Jessica Pegula, USA, awaits in the semifinal
