An Israeli fighter jet has attacked targets in a district of southern Beirut. The air raids were carried out shortly after the Israeli military urged residents in the areas to leave their homes in the Lebanese capital.

The attacks on the Choueifat district are confirmed by Lebanon's state news agency NNA and the French news agency AFP. Heavy smoke is seen rising from the area.

The Israeli military's spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, sent a message via X to residents in the area, where two districts were marked on a map:

"You are near places that belong to Hezbollah and that Israel's military will attack in the near future."

Earlier on Thursday, twelve people, including three children, were killed in Israeli attacks on towns in the Baalbek-Hermel region, according to Lebanon's Health Department.

Also late on Wednesday evening, Israel carried out several attacks on targets in Lebanon, in a pattern that has been recurring. Wednesday's attacks, however, were unusually extensive – 17 attacks on suburbs in Beirut, where six buildings were leveled to the ground, according to Lebanese state-controlled media.
