Nightmare Draw for MFF in CL Qualifiers

If Malmö FF win the double header against Klaksvik from the Faroe Islands, it could become a nightmare opponent in the next round of the Champions League qualifiers. There, the winner of the meeting between Greek Paok Thessaloniki and Borac Banja Luka from Bosnia-Herzegovina awaits.

If Malmö FF wins the double match against Klaksvik from the Faroe Islands, it could become a nightmare opponent in the next round of the Champions League qualifiers.

Waiting is the winner of the meeting between Greek Paok Thessaloniki and Borac Banja Luka from Bosnia-Herzegovina.

If it becomes Paok, it's a real nightmare for the Scanians. The club took its fourth league title in the spring and also reached the quarterfinals in the Conference League.

MFF meets Klaksvik in the second qualifying round and starts at home on Tuesday. The return match on the Faroe Islands is played a week later.

If Malmö loses to Klaksvik, it will continue to qualify for the Europa League, and then the loser in Paok-Borac Banja Luka awaits.

Elfsborg in Europa League

To reach the Champions League, it requires winning a total of three double matches. If Malmö wins against the Faroese club, the Scanians have secured play in at least the league game of the Conference League.

Elfsborg qualifies for the Europa League. If the Borås club beats Moldovan Sheriff Tiraspol (starts away on Thursday), it will play against the winner of the match between Romanian Corvinul Hunedoara and Croatian Rijeka in the third qualifying round.

In the event of a loss, Elfsborg will be transferred to the Conference League qualifiers and there awaits the winning team in Olimpija Ljubljana, Slovenia-Polissia Zjytomir, Ukraine.

No lifelines

In the Conference League, Djurgården and Häcken can be found, who meet Progrés and Diddeleng (both from Luxembourg) in the second qualifying round.

If Djurgården advances, the team will face the winner of the match between Finnish Ilves and Austria Wien from Austria.

For Häcken, it will be a match against the winner between Icelandic Stjärnan and Paide from Estonia in a potential third qualifying round.

In the Conference League, there are no lifelines, and a team must survive three qualifying rounds to reach the autumn league game. In the event of a loss in a double match, the European adventure is over for this time.

The autumn's three club team tournaments in men's football will get a new look. Now, the traditional four-team groups with double matches are being abolished, and instead, a form of basic series with 36 teams in each tournament is being created.

In the Champions League (CL) and Europa League (EL), each team is drawn against eight different opponents, but the teams only meet once. Each team must play a total of four home games and four away games. In the Conference League, each team plays six matches.
