Martin Regborn dominated the technical and challenging world cup sprint almost perfectly.

Only the Norwegian Kasper Harlem Fosser was faster.

Second place means that Regborn now leads the total world cup in orienteering after two competitions.

On the women's side, Tove Alexandersson had to settle for fourth place, beaten by the trio of Simona Aebersold, Switzerland, Natalia Gemperle, also from Switzerland, and third-placed Norwegian Ane Dyrkorn.

Alexandersson won the knockout sprint last weekend and was also the fastest of all the women at the end in Genoa. But some less successful route choices earlier on cost time and positions.

Martin Regborn finished 21 seconds behind the winner Kasper Fosser.

Regborn now leads the total world cup on the men's side, while Tove Alexandersson is third on the women's side.
