Robert's last chance - "Wants an Olympic medal"

Jamina Roberts is doing her fourth Olympic Games, maybe also the last of her career. Ahead of the quarterfinal against Hungary, the dream lives on: We want an Olympic medal.

The 34-year-old team captain will make her 240th handball national team match on Tuesday evening.

And it's an extremely important one.

The Swedish women have packed up and left Paris and the Olympic Village after the group stage. Now it's win or bust in the knockout matches in the large multi-sport arena in Lille, with room for around 27,000 spectators in the stands.

"A little sad to have left Paris"

The basketball team previously played the group stage there, but now the handball team is taking over the city.

A little sad to have left Paris, but I hope it's made up for by the great arena tomorrow and that there are a lot of people there and a good atmosphere, says Jamina Roberts ahead of the match against Hungary.

The left-hander made her first Olympic Games in London and has also participated in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. Last time, it was a fourth place, but the Blue-Yellow team has never managed to win an Olympic medal on the women's side.

We're certainly longing for a medal in any tournament, we're not spoiled. Here and now, we want an Olympic medal, but first, we have to get past Hungary, which feels like a slightly uncertain opponent. If we succeed, we'll have two chances to secure a medal, but then against incredibly tough opponents.

"We'll see"

Sweden finished second in its group, Hungary third in its. During the past year, the teams have met twice – Swedish victory in the World Championship in Gothenburg last winter and then victory for the Hungarians when they had home advantage in the Olympic qualifying round last spring.

Roberts realizes that the quarterfinal can be the end point of her Olympic career if it doesn't result in a win.

I'll be 38 years old next time, so we'll see if I'm still alive then, haha. Honestly, I don't think much about it, but... It might be the last one, yes. It's sicker if I'm in the next Olympic Games, than if I'm not.
