Despite the first national championship gold in ten years, Skellefteå AIK made a multi-million loss last season.
The club is 4.8 million kronor in the red, according to a press release.
National championship gold on the men's side and for the men's juniors, and promotion to the top league on the women's side.
Skellefteå had a successful season in sporting terms.
But financially, it went all wrong.
The association explains the red figures by citing the lack of player sales to the NHL, increased personnel costs, and increased inflation.
"Over the past six years, the association has had an average of over five million kronor per year in player sales, but no revenue this financial year. Last year, NHL revenue amounted to around ten million kronor," the club writes.
The increased inflation has increased travel and facility costs.
The club writes that costs will increase further next season when the women's team plays in the top women's league, SDHL.
However, there is no acute crisis at the club, which has a capital of 74 million kronor. Skellefteå writes that they want to experience last season's successes again, but then the revenue must increase.
