Sundsvall is leading the league by a wide margin – with the latest figures from the Transport Agency, it has the most registered A-tractors – 1,256 of them.

The number of A-tractors has increased significantly in recent years – there are now more than 57,000 registered A-tractors across the country. In second place in the league, after Sundsvall, is Örnsköldsvik with 762, followed by Norrtälje, where the Transport Agency reports 683 registered.

At the county level, the metropolitan counties are leading – with the most A-tractors found in Västra Götaland, followed by Skåne and Stockholm County.

The rebuilt cars are popular, not least among young people. But in the future, 15-year-olds may be banned from driving them. At the beginning of the year, the EU Parliament voted in favour of a proposal to raise the age limit for A-tractors from 15 to 16 years old.

The proposal also involves requirements for a B1 driving licence rather than the current AM driving licence, and an increase in the speed limit from the current 30 to 45 kilometres per hour.
