September is warmer than ever in Sweden. On Wednesday, the 49-year-old record was broken when the temperature soared above 30 degrees.

The previous Swedish heat record was measured in 1975 to 29.1 degrees in Stehag in Skåne.

The warmest was on Wednesday in Helsingborg with a temperature of 31.1 degrees.

It's notable since it has beaten our previous record by two whole degrees on the decimal, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen, meteorologist at SMHI.

In total, the previous temperature record was beaten at eight locations in the country, including Halmstad and Borås.

No less than 15 stations have all registered their warmest September day, says Erik Höjgård-Olsen.

The coming days are expected to bring high temperatures around Sweden again.

I don't think we'll beat our new national record, that is 31.1 degrees, but we can get a new day where a few stations beat the old, but then it's old news.

Corrected: In an earlier version, the wrong temperature for Helsingborg was stated.
