Sweden is sending 13 diesel-powered reserve power plants to Ukraine to help the country with its power supply.

The government made the formal decision on Thursday.

The reserve power plants can be used when such a terrible attack occurs from Russia's side, as happened recently against a children's hospital, to maintain power supply, says Energy and Industry Minister Ebba Busch (KD).

This is not part of a previously announced package, according to Busch, but a standalone decision made by the government after being contacted by Svenska Kraftnät, which is now making its third shipment to Ukraine.

In recent months, Russian robot attacks have targeted Ukrainian power plants. The consequences have been a shortage of electricity and several power outages.
