The Milan attacker Evelyn Ijeh is one of several surprising names in Sweden's starting eleven in tonight's European Championship qualifying match against France in Dijon.

The 22-year-old will thus make her A-national team debut.

National team captain Peter Gerhardsson has clearly got Tuesday's match against England in mind already. Even though tonight's match against France has some significance in the battle for the two direct spots to the European Championship, it's at Gamla Ullevi next week that it gets serious.

A win against England and Sweden books a spot in the European Championship in Switzerland 2025, regardless of how it goes tonight.

Gerhardsson chooses to rest key players like Kosovare Asllani, Magdalena Eriksson, and Filippa Angeldahl, where the first two risk suspension if they get warned tonight. Madelen Janogy also starts on the bench.

Worth noting is also that Johanna Rytting Kaneryd starts in a somewhat unusual role, as an offensive inner midfielder.

IFK Norrköping midfielder My Cato injured her arm during Thursday's training and misses the match. Outside the match squad are also Elin Rubensson and Nathalie Björn, who are both on their way back after injuries.

Sweden's starting eleven (4–3–3): Zecira Musovic – Josefine Rybrink, Linda Sembrant, Emma Kullberg, Jonna Andersson – Hanna Bennison, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Julia Zigiotti Olme – Sofia Jakobsson, Evelyn Ijeh, Fridolina Rolfö.

Substitutes: Jennifer Falk (gk), Emma Holmgren (gk), Hanna Lundkvist, Anna Sandberg, Magdalena Eriksson, Madelen Janogy, Matilda Vinberg, Kosovare Asllani, Rosa Kafaji, Hanna Glas, Filippa Angeldahl, Felicia Schröder.

Outside the squad: Nathalie Björn, My Cato, and Elin Rubensson.

France's starting eleven (4–3–3): Pauline Peyraud-Magnin – Sakina Karchaoui, Wendie Renard, Griedge Mbock, Elisa de Almeida – Kadidiatou Diani, Grace Geyoro, Sandie Toletti – Delphine Cascarino, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Kenza Dali.
