Several entertainment profiles praise Joe Biden's decision not to run in the upcoming presidential election in the USA, including actor Robert De Niro and "Lost" creator Damon Lindelof.

Robert De Niro, an outspoken critic of Donald Trump, expresses "respect, admiration, and affection" for Biden. This is written by Deadline. De Niro calls it "selfless patriotism" to step aside and pave the way for another democratic candidate.

Producer and screenwriter Damon Lindelof also praises Biden. In a post on Instagram, he publishes a front page from Joe Biden's presidential election victory in 2020, and calls it a "historic presidency", but means that he is now "genuinely exhilarated about the presidential election" and supports whoever can "catalyze passion and engagement across the country".

Barbara Streisand writes on X: "Joe Biden will go down in history as a man who has achieved significant accomplishments during his four-year term".

Several celebrities also choose to support Kamala Harris, who is widely expected to become the Democrats' new presidential candidate.

"Now we're rolling, I said Kamala should have been the candidate in 2024", writes artist Cardi B on X. British Charli XCX comments on the events with the words "Kamala is brat" – a reference to the artist's newly released album called "Brat".

"The White House" creator Aaron Sorkin previously suggested in an article in The New York Times that the Democrats should choose Republican Mitt Romney as a candidate, if they wanted to defeat Donald Trump. Now he has changed his mind.

"I take it all back! Harris for America!" he writes, via "The White House" star Joshua Malina's X account, something that the magazine Variety has confirmed is an authentic statement from the screenwriter.
