The newspaper Folkbladet may be shut down by the turn of the year. The staff was informed about the owner NTM Media's plans on Wednesday morning, writes Folkbladet.

Shortly, MBL negotiations will begin and a decision is expected afterwards.

It's incredibly sad that we don't have the conditions to maintain two separate editorial offices that cover Norrköping and Finspång, says Nils Olauson, business area manager responsible for NTM's editorial operations, to the newspaper.

But I am completely convinced that it is the best for the local journalism's survival over time in Norrköping and Finspång, he continues.

Folkbladet, which is an independent social democratic newspaper, was founded in 1905. Nine people work at the newspaper.
