The crime investigation is moving forward after the shooting that took place at the Kungsmässan shopping center in Kungsbacka on Sunday.
Viktor Törneke – senior prosecutor who has recently been assigned the high-profile case – describes the investigation as going well, not least since the shooting occurred on a day with many people in motion.
According to Törneke, it is not unlikely that there may have been a client in the background.
That's almost a starting point in these investigations, so it's definitely a lead we're investigating.
"A picture of what he did"
Two 14-year-olds have been apprehended. One is suspected of attempted murder in two cases and aggravated weapons offenses. The other is suspected of aiding and abetting attempted murder.
The 14-year-old suspected of aiding and abetting is not believed to have been at the shopping center at the time of the shooting.
We have a picture of what he did. I don't want to say more about that, but there is no suspicion that he was at Kungsmässan, says Törneke.
Bevistalan
The injured man – whose condition is stable – is in his 25s and known to the police from before.
According to Kungsbacka-Posten, three armed men were arrested outside his home last summer. They are suspected of having planned to murder the man.
Because the suspects in the attempted murder in Kungsbacka are under 15 years old, none of them can be prosecuted. Instead, it is through a so-called bevistalan that their potential guilt can be established.
Whether the prosecutor will bring a bevistalan is too early to say, he claims.
It's a question for later. Generally, bevistalan is very rare, but in the cases where it is brought, it's for this type of crime, says Viktor Törneke.
Those under 15 who commit crimes cannot be sentenced to any punishment. In some cases, the police or prosecutor can still conduct an investigation to investigate what happened and provide the social services with a basis for support or care measures.
In particularly serious crimes, the prosecutor can request that the court try the question of guilt through a so-called bevistalan. This is only done when the prosecutor assesses that it is possible to prove that the person committed the crime. The court will then take a position on whether the young person committed the crime or not, but will not impose any punishment.
