Venezuela's opposition leader, Israeli and Palestinian women's organizations, or Azerbaijani human rights activist Gubad Ibadoglu.
One of them will receive this year's Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought from the EU Parliament.
The three finalists were announced by the EU Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee on Thursday. Among the candidates who fell out was, above all, American X-owner and Tesla founder Elon Musk, who was nominated by the two party groups of the extreme right.
The Venezuelans María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia were, in turn, nominated by the conservative party groups EPP and ECR, while the social democratic S&D and liberal RE put forward the women's groups Nashim Osot Shalom (Women wage peace) and Nisaa al-Shams (Women of the Sun). Ibadoglu was nominated by The Greens.
The winner of the prize will be decided by the parliament's group leaders on 24 October.
