Sweden's least and most dog-loving municipalities have been crowned. At the top, or perhaps at the bottom, is Vänersborg. The municipality takes home the prize as Sweden's least dog-loving – at least in terms of dog density. Last year, the municipality had 44 dogs per 1,000 inhabitants, compared to the national average of 106 dogs.
This is shown by a new survey from Konsumentguiden.se with statistics from the Swedish Board of Agriculture and the Statistics Sweden.
Stockholm County, however, dominates the list of the ten least dog-loving municipalities with a total of seven placements, where Sundbyberg and Solna are at the top.
In Skåne, dogs are much more popular. Åstorp tops the list of the most dog-loving municipalities with 381 dogs per 1,000 inhabitants – 8.5 times more than in Vänersborg.
Perhaps the most animal friends can be found in the north. Västerbotten and Jämtland counties have together eight of the ten places on the list of the most dog-loving municipalities.
