This week's film and series – bad luck with the weather

Summer 2024 lacks major bio events like last year's big "Barbenheimer" hype, but we're unlucky with the weather in a new tornado blockbuster.

FILM 12/7

A standalone sequel to the 1996 stormy blockbuster "Twister". Adrenaline-pumping tornado hunters led by the wild-haired Tyler – played by Glen Powell (the most sought-after male actor in Hollywood right now?) set out to challenge death. Warning for strong gusts of wind.

The 1960s and the space race. NASA chief Cole Davis (Channing Tatum) becomes infatuated with marketing expert Kelly Jones (Scarlett Johansson), who is called in to fake a moon landing – if the real one doesn't go as planned. Romantic comedy for an audience seeking weaker gravity.

A German mix of "A bigger splash" and "Swimming pool". In other words, a summer film about adults where vacation and sexual tensions blend together. The grumpy writer Leon (Thomas Schubert) tries to work on an unfinished manuscript at his friend's country estate, but the plans are ruined by an unexpected female guest. Nadja (Paula Beer) is a free-spirited soul who provokes Leon, and the fragile atmosphere cracks.

A train to New Delhi is filled with blood when commando soldier Amrit (Lakshya) must kill his way through hordes of thugs to rescue his beloved from a forced marriage. Hard-hitting fistfights are not usually served from India, but after Dev Patel's successful "Monkey man" this spring, the country seems to be at the forefront of emotionally grounded martial arts violence.

TV/STREAMING

(11/7, Max)

The problem of Sis-homes and forced placement of teenagers is highly topical in Sweden. "Teen Torture, Inc" is a well-crafted documentary in three parts about the American business model of boarding schools with torture and trauma as treatment methods. A wake-up call about what happens when teenagers on the slide are turned into an industry with 100,000 "customers" per year.

(12/7, SVT and SVT Play)

The ever-expanding Sune universe continues to swell. In the second season of "The Andersson Family", mom Karin gets a new job in the private sector and dad Rudolf has to handle his wife suddenly having more money than him.

(11/7, Prime video)

Seth Rogen and partner Evan Goldberg return to the animated food world's forbidden land. The film "Foodtopia" follows up the vulgar comedy "Sausage party" from 2016, and this time the sausages want to build their own sanctuary. The cast includes Edward Norton, Kristen Wiig, and Michael Cera.
