Three men are now convicted of attempting to smuggle almost 300 kilos of narcotics into Sweden.
The men arrived in February by ferry from Kiel to Gothenburg, but were stopped by customs. In a container under the flatbed of a light truck, 170 kilos of cannabis and 122 kilos of amphetamine were found. The narcotics had been sprayed with a strong citrus scent, which, however, did not deceive the customs' search dog.
Now, two of the men are sentenced to seven years in prison for aggravated drug offenses, writes Gothenburg-Posten.
The third, who has confessed, is sentenced to five and a half years in prison. The district court has mitigated the man's sentence, since he provided the police investigators with important information.
The youngest of the men is in his 55s. The two others are somewhat older. All three are also sentenced to lifelong expulsion.
The narcotics are estimated to have been worth around 46 million kronor if sold on the street.
