A 19-year-old man is sentenced to life imprisonment, while a 17-year-old boy is given eight years in prison. The district court rules that closed youth care is not a sufficient punishment for the 17-year-old, who is deemed to have fired the fatal shot.

Another 17-year-old, who was 16 at the time of the shooting, is sentenced to four years of closed youth care.

In total, twelve people, five guests and seven staff members, were inside the restaurant when the shooting took place that March evening just after 9 pm.

According to the indictment, shots were fired from two different weapons, a revolver and an automatic carbine. One of the guests, a 27-year-old man, was hit in the chest and died on the spot.

According to the verdict, the 19-year-old and 17-year-old held the weapons, while the 16-year-old guided them to the location using a mobile phone.

The three who were convicted were arrested not far from there the same evening. They were linked to the shooting, among other things, through surveillance footage and DNA on weapons and clothing.

Whether the man who was killed was the intended target could not be established, but according to prosecutor Niksa Lucic, the circumstances surrounding the murder suggest that it took place in a gang context.

All three are convicted despite denying the charges.
