Como – backed by wealthy Indonesian owners – is playing in the Italian top league for the first time since 2002–2003. The team is coached by legend Cesc Fabregas, who played for the club last season but then switched to the coaching bench.

This season, Como has recruited, among others, the former World Champions Raphael Varane and Pepe Reina – and the team is being touted as an exciting newcomer.

But the premiere was a tough one.

Already in the first half, Juventus took off. Young talent Samuel Mbangula cut in from the side and placed the ball in for 1–0, before Timothy Weah thundered in a pass via the crossbar to make it 2–0.

In the second half, Dusan Vlahovic first had a goal disallowed for offside and later hit the post. No goal from him – but Andrea Cambiaso did score, making the final result 3–0 in stoppage time.

A successful start for new Juventus coach Thiago Motta in front of a pleased home crowd in Turin.
