Five Swedish counties recorded a record number of guest nights during the summer, according to the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.
Nationally, the number of guest nights increased by one percent in June, July, and August compared to last year's summer months, according to the authority's new figures.
The counties that recorded a record number of overnight tourist stays were Kalmar, Skåne, Södermanland, Uppsala, and Västerbotten.
Overall, Swedish visitors account for seven out of ten guest nights, according to the statistics. Among foreign tourists, Norwegians and Germans account for approximately half.
