"USA shared information with Austrian cooperation partners to make it possible to stop the threat," said John Kirby, spokesperson for the US Security Council, at a press conference.

During the night leading up to Friday, another person, an 18-year-old Iraqi citizen, was arrested, according to the Austrian newspaper Kurier. He is said to come from the same circles as the main suspect, the 19-year-old, and is reported to have sworn his allegiance to the terrorist organization IS as recently as August 6, according to the newspaper.

However, he is not believed to have been involved in the specific plans to attack the concert.

A 19-year-old and a 17-year-old have been suspected of the planned attack since earlier. The 19-year-old has confessed to planning to "kill as many people as possible" in what the security service describes as a suicide attack in connection with the sold-out arena.

The second suspect, the 17-year-old, started working at the arena just days before the concerts were to take place and was arrested near his workplace.
