USA's President Joe Biden and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky are to meet several times to discuss the war between Ukraine and Russia.

The initiative comes after Biden received criticism for choosing Hollywood stars and his election campaign over Ukraine.

The first meeting will take place in Normandy, where Biden is traveling to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces landed in Normandy. There, Biden will "have the opportunity to sit down with President Zelensky," according to national security advisor Jake Sullivan.

The two presidents will meet again during the G7 meeting in Italy, which takes place from June 13-15.

USA's display of support for Ukraine comes after Biden received criticism for saying he would skip a forthcoming Ukrainian peace summit in Switzerland and instead participate in a fundraising event with Hollywood stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts ahead of the election.
