Withdrew after the star duel: "A tough day"

The Norwegian Karsten Warholm - world record holder on 400 meters hurdles - would have run at the Diamond League gala in Zurich in a Swedish national team uniform. This as a penalty in the 100 meters duel against Armand Duplantis. Shortly before the start, Warholm however withdrew due to a feeling in the back of his thigh.

It's a tough day. I got a small feeling and it was too great a risk to run today, says Karsten Warholm to SVT.

Instead, the audience at Letzigrund Stadium got to see Warholm – to the tune of an Abba song – walking around in the Swedish uniform.

I took the penalty in another way and showed myself in the Swedish uniform. It's just taking pictures, because it's hopefully the last time, says Warholm with a smile.

It was on Wednesday that the two stars met on 100 meters on the same stadium. Armand Duplantis – the Swedish world record holder in pole vault – won the duel in a time of 10.37. A tenth of a second faster than Warholm.

It was worth running the duel, despite it leading to a minor injury.

Yes, it was actually that. It was a fantastic day, says the Norwegian.
