An explosion occurred during the night to Tuesday in Kristianstad. The alarm about a very loud bang came in at 3 am. When the police arrived at the scene, it was discovered that something had exploded by a gate to an apartment building.
No one was injured. There has been damage to the gate itself. One of the doors adjacent to the gate has come loose and the windows are shattered, says the police's press spokesperson Katarina Rusin.
The national bomb squad was on site during the night to investigate if there were any other hazardous objects in connection to the house. An area was cordoned off and residents were advised to stay indoors.
The bomb squad found no other objects and has left. The cordons have been lifted. Unfortunately, we have not been able to identify what exploded, says Rusin.
The police have not arrested anyone suspected in the current situation.
We are investigating if there is a special connection to someone in this house. Right now, we are looking into whether there is a threat against someone.
