The majority of Democrats believe that Vice President Kamala Harris would make a good president. This is not the case among Americans in general, according to a new survey.

About six out of ten Democrats in the USA believe that the Vice President would do a good job as president, shows a new survey from the news agency AP and the opinion institute Norc. Only two out of ten believe that she would not do so.

Since President Joe Biden's debate failure against presidential candidate Donald Trump on June 27, many Democrats have expressed that Kamala Harris should take over as the Democratic candidate in the autumn election. Harris, however, has remained loyal to Biden and continued to support him.

Oakley Graham, a 30-year-old Democrat in Greenwood, Missouri, tells the news agency AP that he would be more enthusiastic about supporting Harris.

It would be nice to see a person of color, a woman, someone younger, take the step and lead. I hope it would inspire a younger generation to become more engaged, says Oakley Graham.

When it comes to Americans in general, they are more skeptical about how Harris would perform as president than Democrats are in the survey. Only about three out of ten American adults say that Harris would do well as president.

About one out of ten Americans say that they do not know enough to have an opinion about Harris, while almost everyone has an opinion about Biden.
