Six people are convicted in a so-called pedophile trap in Uddevalla, where a man was pressured to pay money after agreeing to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old boy, reports Bohusläningen.

When the man arrived at the meeting place, he was met by two people who filmed and confronted him as a pedophile. To avoid being reported to the police, he swished 25,000 kronor directly, and later took out a loan of 100,000 kronor, where the money was transferred to one of the men.

The man is not alone in falling into the trap, according to the newspaper, which writes that more men from other parts of the country have been pressured to pay large sums. But it was when a man in Borås contacted the police in connection with the extortion that the crimes were revealed. When the perpetrators showed up to get the money, they were arrested by the police.

In the verdict from the Göteborg District Court, a 24-year-old man, who is already serving a multi-year prison sentence, is sentenced to an additional two months in prison. A man of the same age is sentenced to two years in prison for kidnapping and seven counts of extortion. Four more people are sentenced for money laundering to conditional sentences and day fines.

The perpetrators have explained the crimes by saying they wanted to do society a favor.
