The French far-right party National Rally (RN) wants to privatise the country's public service TV and radio.
The party's leader Jordan Bardella has stated to TV channel France 3 that the goal is to save money by privatising the channels, reports The Guardian.
According to Bardella, one could save the equivalent of approximately 33 billion Swedish kronor, money that could then be used for other things.
Sébastien Chénu, vice chairman of the party, has accused certain large programmes on national radio stations of leaning to the left. According to him, the party's plan is to keep international channels but sell off the national TV and radio stations.
France's President Emmanuel Macron called for new elections in the country in the light of the European Championship, where National Rally won a landslide victory and took more than 30 per cent of the French votes.
RN's Marine Le Pen has stood as President Emmanuel Macron's opponent in the last two presidential elections, but has seen herself defeated both times.
