Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants the USA to immediately lift the restrictions on arms deliveries that Israel has been subject to in recent months.

In a video clip published on social media, Netanyahu recounts parts of the conversation he had with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken when he visited Israel last week.

I said it's unbelievable that the government has withheld weapons and ammunition from Israel over the past few months, says Netanyahu.

According to the Prime Minister, Washington is on its way to lifting the restrictions.

Minister Blinken assured me that the government is working day and night to remove these obstacles. I really hope that's the case. It should be so.

The disagreement between the otherwise very close allies Israel and the USA grew in connection with Israel's ground offensive in the heavily besieged border town of Rafah in southern Gaza.

Israel entered the area at the beginning of May, despite the USA's warnings due to the humanitarian cost of an offensive in such a densely populated area.

The USA has, however, claimed that Israel has not breached the laws of war, and has sent large arms packages to Israel even after the invasion of Rafah.

Following Netanyahu's video clip, Blinken comments that it's only a matter of a delivery of 900-kilogram bombs that hasn't been sent to Israel, as the USA fears that the massive bombs will be used in densely populated areas. Everything else is being sent as usual, says Blinken at a press conference.
