At least one drone has been observed by security guards over a runway at Arlanda Airport on Monday evening, according to the Swedish Transport Agency to TT. The incident did not cause as large disruptions as previous drone alerts.

I can confirm that there were drones at Arlanda tonight, where we at LFV received observations, says Christopher Montecino, officer on duty at the Swedish Transport Agency (LFV).

The alarm about drones, which Aftonbladet was the first to report on, came at 22.20.

Some departures were stopped for a shorter period. Just now, traffic has been resumed, but some delays remain, said Montecino at 23 o'clock.

Multiple alarms

The police sent resources to the site, gathering information about what was observed.

Observations were made, but the operation has not been able to confirm that it is drones, although it is the initial assessment, says police spokesperson Rebecca Landberg, at 07 o'clock on Tuesday.

At 01 o'clock on Tuesday morning, the police received two alarms about drones being spotted in Uppsala, but the operation did not lead to any report, reports Upsala Nya Tidning.

Last night, all air traffic at Arlanda was stopped after several drones were observed from the control tower. The police suspect that it is a deliberate act and have launched a preliminary investigation.

The event on Monday evening is also being investigated as a crime against the protection law and aviation law. No one has been arrested in the cases yet.

"Handling the consequences"

Swedavia does not want to go into detail about the airport's security work.

We always cooperate with the police, relevant authorities, and all actors at the airport on security work, says Ellen Laurin, deputy press chief at Swedavia.

The Swedish Transport Agency is responsible for air traffic control at Arlanda.

Based on air traffic control, we handle the consequences of what is in the airspace. Our air traffic controllers are trained to handle situations that arise to deliver a safe air traffic service, says Daniel Ackermann, press officer at the Swedish Transport Agency.
