Öster overtakes Helsingborg – in an Allsvenskan spot

Helsingborg, Landskrona or Öster? Right now the answer is Öster. Tonight's 5-2 against Utsikten brought the club up to an Allsvenskan promotion spot in Superettan's dramatic top-tier struggle.

Nothing is clear, far from it, but facts are facts and numbers are numbers. With 15 points left to play for, league-leading Degerfors are seven points ahead of the relegation playoff spot.

Three wins to go and the math says that Stora Valla will guarantee Allsvenskan football again in the spring.

The question is which club will then hang on to Degerfors without having to play a nervous playoff in mid-November.

Not all voices shout Öster. But more and more. If Superettan consisted of 25 rounds, Växjö would again have an Allsvenskan football club.

It doesn't.

There are five matches left and an opportunity to mobilize maximum support in Kronoberg County.

We're fighting hard for each other. We take one training session and one match at a time, and then we'll look at the table after 30 matches, says Öster's two-goal scorer Adam Bergmark-Wiberg to Max.

Degerfors stands on 50 points, second-place Öster on 44, while Helsingborg has 43 and Landskrona 42.

Bergmark-Wiberg and Alibek Aliev already made sure in the first half to set the stage for a hot football autumn in the Växjö area. Bergmark-Wiberg also scored after the break, where Daniel Ljung and Vladimir Rodic also contributed to the win with goals.

A fantastic effort from minute one to the end. I'm extremely satisfied and happy to get some points, says Bergmark-Wiberg after Öster's third straight win.

Last time Öster – Swedish champions in 1968, 1978, 1980, 1981 – played in the top division was in 2013.

In the fall of 2022, the club qualified for an Allsvenskan spot, but Varberg won the duel.
