To decide the women's top division in football 2024 already on Monday, both Häcken and Hammarby had to drop points, while table leader Rosengård won away against Piteå.
But Häcken made sure to postpone Rosengård's planned gold celebration through a planned three-pointer at home against Växjö.
It's a match where we have full control. We have the ball almost the entire time on their half of the pitch and it feels calm and safe, said Häcken's Alice Bergström to Viaplay after the first half.
Got a dream goal
Then Tabby Tindell had placed 1–0 in the 31st minute and Bergström herself had doubled the lead a few minutes later with a real gem. The long shot sat like a smack in the far corner.
I felt like I got a good hit. Then it was bloody nice to see it sail in, said Bergström.
In the 64th minute, the 21-year-old came forward again and tapped in her fifth goal of the season to 3–0. Felicia Schröder finished off with 4–0 in the final minutes.
Revenge for CL
For Häcken, it was a nice win considering the disappointment from the Champions League qualifying round the other day. The Hisings team defeated Arsenal 1–0 at home but was then eliminated in London. It ended in a 0–4 loss in the return match and the dream of playing in the Champions League went up in smoke.
It worked as fuel before the Växjö match, according to Alice Bergström.
It's clear that we weren't satisfied with the result, we were hungry for more. But we said to each other that "today we just go out and play and show that we can recharge".
After Monday, five rounds remain, and Rosengård will already get a new chance to secure the championship title on Friday, when they meet Kristianstad at home. For Häcken, the next task is Vittsjö away on Saturday.
