On Tuesday evening, shots were fired at Israel's embassy in Stockholm. During the night to Wednesday, an explosion occurred near Israel's embassy north of Copenhagen.

Cecilia Holmbom, prosecutor in Sweden, confirms that there is a connection between the incidents.

The event in Copenhagen can be linked to the Swedish investigation into Israel's embassy, she says to TT and adds that she cannot say what the connection is.

No one is detained for the shooting at the embassy in Stockholm.

It remains unchanged since earlier, says Holmbom.

Close Cooperation

Danish police state in an email to TT that they are still investigating whether there is a connection between the incidents.

"We have close cooperation with Swedish police, but since our case is held behind closed doors, we cannot comment further on the investigation", writes Poul Kjeldsen from Copenhagen police.

On Thursday, two young Swedes, 16 and 19 years old, were arrested as suspects for the explosion in Copenhagen.

Prosecutor Søren Harbo said that he assumes the young Swedes did not act alone.

He motivated the decision to hold the detention hearing behind closed doors by saying that other perpetrators should not get access to the information that came up during the hearing.

It is our opinion that there are accomplices, but I cannot say why we think so, said Harbo to TT after the detention hearing in Copenhagen.

Hypothesis about Iran

Säpo's operational chief Fredrik Hallström stated on Thursday that an "objective hypothesis" is that Iran may have been involved in the attacks.

Since it resembles what has happened on previous occasions, i.e. target selection and modus operandi, he said to TT.

According to information to the media, the police suspect that it is the now fragmented network Foxtrot, led by Rawa Majid, that is behind the incidents in Stockholm and Copenhagen – on behalf of Iran.
