Greece has recorded its warmest July ever, according to the country's national observatory. A similar record was measured in June.
The average temperature has, according to the observatory, increased by 2.5 degrees in Greece.
Three of the four warmest temperatures in July over the past 80 years have been measured over the past four years – and according to preliminary figures, July 2024 was record warm, writes the observatory on its website.
The temperature exceeded the previous record from 2012 by 0.3 degrees.
Last month, the observatory announced that Greece this year also recorded the warmest June in 60 years.
The EU's climate service Copernicus has also stated that July 21 this year was the warmest day ever measured on Earth.
