Important permit for non-working relatives etc.

In contrast to the parents of a child who has acquired financial or educational means of earning a steady income at the very beginning, who can live here without residency permit, this permit is vital for those who come under such heads as dependents or non-working relatives etc.

Prove family relationship and not be a burden

While outlining the rules for those wishing to move to Sweden, the Swedish Migration Agency undertakes to examine documents submitted by applicants concerning their identity, family, finances, and residency. According to Migrationsverket, if you are a family member of the EU/EEA national who resides in Sweden, you are required to present documents that prove the family relationship with the individual who possesses residency rights. Proceeding with the application requires presenting documents showing possession of funds which guarantees that the person will not be a burden and draw benefits from the Swedish system.

Use online application

The agency advises applicants to use the online facility, as that will reduce the time taken to process applications. The outcome will be communicated after all the documents that were provided have been thoroughly assessed. It is worth mentioning that the residence permit holders will be required to stay in Sweden, but without all automatic residency rights.

Protection against non-earing immigrants

The operation of this policy shows how Sweden addresses the twin demands of free movement within the EU/EEA and the need to protect the economy from non-earning immigrants. The applicants are also advised to visit the Migration Agency’s website for complete details on the application and particular requirements (Migrationsverket).
