What Is "Rikssvenska"?

Regardless, there's a lot of slang in the suburbs that's good to know. We're listing frequently used slang words among young people in the suburbs.

  • "Aboow": It means something is incredible.

"Aboow har du fått en ny elcykel!" means "Wow did you get a new bike!"

  • "Gäris": It means a girl or chick.

"Är det din gäris?" means "Is that your girlfriend?".

  • "Shuno": It means a guy or boy.

"Vem är den där shuno?" means "Who's that guy?".

  • "Gitta": It means to leave a place.

"Ska vi gitta nu?" means "Should we leave now?".

  • "Katt" or "kattig": It means someone is hot, usually for about girls.

"Aboow vad kattig den där Wilma är" means "Wow, how hot Wilma is".

  • "Para": It means money.

"Jag har ingen para just nu" means "I have no money right now".

  • "Jalla": It means hurry up (like in Arabic).

"Jalla vi går nu, jag har ingen para kvar" means "Hurry up, let's go now, I have no money left".

  • "Keff": It means something is bad or ugly.

"Shit vad keff" means "Oh, how bad".

  • "Aina": It means the police.

"Svensk aina är bäst" means "Swedish police is the best"

  • "Len": It means a friend or buddy.

"Hur är läget len?" means "How are you, friend?"

  • "Walla": It means to promise, swear on God.

"Walla hon är riktig kattig, jalla prata med henne innan hon baxar" means "I promise, she's really hot, hurry up and talk to her before she leaves".

So there you have some slang to help you understand a bit more if you were to meet kids from the suburbs and feel completely lost.
