A Spanish judge, Begoña Gómez, calls the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to testify before a court as part of the corruption investigation into her.

She will appear in court in Madrid on July 5 to answer questions about the investigation, which was made public in April – and which Sánchez has repeatedly called a "smear campaign".

When the investigation was made public, Sánchez announced that he would take a five-day break to think about his future, but later announced that he would stay on the job.

"There is nothing behind these accusations, just a cheap bluff created by extreme right-wing groups," writes the Prime Minister on Tuesday on X.

The accusations against the wife are about her allegedly using her position to influence business deals. An anti-corruption group says the accusations are based on media reports and cannot guarantee the accuracy of them.

Gómez has not commented on the accusations.
