Storm of Criticism Against Commuting Starbucks CEO

He gets an annual salary of 1.6 million dollars, a one-time bonus of 10 million and opportunities for an additional 100 million. Starbucks' new CEO is now also being criticized for commuting to work with the company's private jet.

Starbucks new CEO Brian Niccol has once again ended up in hot water due to his lavish employment contract. Previously, Niccol's enormous salary and compensation package have been highlighted.

It is now revealed that he is also allowed to use the company's private jet to commute to work in Seattle from his home in California – approximately 160 miles.

The comments on social media are not merciful. "Hope we won't see too many new sustainability- and climate-related ads from Starbucks", writes a user on X.

It leaves a sour aftertaste that he can take a private jet to commute from California to Seattle, says Dan Coatsworth, investment analyst for AJ Bell.

He tells BBC that the daily commute by air not only harms the environment but also sends bad signals to employees and customers.

A leader must be at the heart of the company, not sit on the beach and enjoy the perks.
