Forty people were killed in the city of Omdurman near Khartoum in Sudan on Thursday, according to democracy activists.
"So far, the death toll is estimated to be 40 civilians and more than 50 injured, some seriously", writes the Karari resistance committee in a statement, where it blames the attack on the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The group is one of hundreds of grassroots movements in the country that coordinates relief efforts.
Reports emerged on Wednesday that around 100 people have been killed in an attack on a village in central Sudan.
The civil war in Sudan broke out in April last year, when the former partners within the army and RSF began to fight against each other.
Officially, around 14,000 people have been killed in the conflict, but the actual death toll is believed to be much higher.
