The EU Commission is once again taking Hungary to the EU Court of Justice – this time for the country's disputed law to combat undue foreign influence.
The EU Commission believes, among other things, that the law does not provide sufficient protection for privacy and freedom of expression, information, and association, and that it violates several of the fundamental freedoms of the internal market.
The law was pushed through in Hungary last winter and gives, among other things, a special authority broad powers to investigate organizations and individuals suspected of using support from abroad to influence elections or voters.
