Yahya Hassan was both praised and stirred up emotions during his short life. In 2020, the Danish poet passed away at just 24 years old. Now, his family is publishing a book about him.
The book "The Hassan Family" will be released on November 13. In it, his mother and four siblings tell the story of the controversial poet, who depicted his upbringing in the suburbs in the shadow of patriarchal and religious oppression and became a literary sensation in Denmark.
"We feel obligated to tell our story because there are thousands of families like ours. The key word is understanding," writes Yahya Hassan's brother Abdullah in a press release.
