Between 2,000 and 3,000 Swedes are estimated to be in Lebanon, where tens of thousands of people are fleeing Israel's attacks. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has advised against all travel to Lebanon since the end of last year, will not extend its support to Swedes in the country.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clearly and repeatedly stated that Swedes who have defied the warning cannot count on receiving help from the state to leave the country," writes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' press service in an email to TT and continues:

"Swedes who have chosen to stay in Lebanon should rethink their own contingency planning and take measures to keep themselves as safe as possible in the event of an escalated conflict."

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a small number of people have contacted them in recent days to ask for help to get back to Sweden.

In early August, Sweden's embassy in Beirut was closed. Since then, diplomatic work has been carried out from Cyprus.
