The Left Party loses 2.1 percentage points to 7.8 percent according to a new opinion poll conducted by Indikator opinion on behalf of Ekot.

According to the radio, the Left Party has lost to the Social Democrats, who increase by 2.5 percentage points to 33.5 percent compared to the previous measurement, which was published in June. However, the decline for the Left Party is the only statistically significant change.

Per Oleskog Tryggvason, opinion manager at Indikator, tells Ekot that the Left Party's decline could be explained by the fact that the party reached a temporary peak when Jonas Sjöstedt was visible during the EU election in June and that they have recently struggled with anti-Semitic statements among their representatives. He also notes that the survey period only partially covers the lottery scandal within the Social Democrats. If support for the Social Democrats has decreased due to this, it may be noticeable in future measurements.

The Christian Democrats and The Liberals remain below the threshold with 3.5 and 3.4 percent, respectively.

The opposition – the Social Democrats, the Left Party, the Green Party, and the Centre Party – receives a total of 53.1 percent, while the government parties gather 45.8.

The survey is based on 2,544 interviews conducted between August 26 and September 22.
