The American Department of Justice is prosecuting a 21-year-old Georgian man described as the leader of an Eastern European "murder cult".

He is suspected, among other things, of planning to have an elf distribute poisoned candy to Jewish children and children from other minorities in New York City.

According to a statement from the department, the prosecution involves four points, including hate crimes and planning of gross violence.

The man is said to be the leader of the Maniac Murder Cult, which prosecutors describe as an international extremist group that promotes neo-Nazi ideology and violence against minorities. The goal, according to the prosecutors' statement, is to create chaos and fear.

The Georgian man was arrested after a police officer infiltrated the group. In November last year, planning began for a mass attack in New York City on New Year's Eve, which involved a member of the group dressing up as an elf and distributing poisoned candy to Jewish children and children from other minorities.

The man has been in New York several times in recent years, where he has relatives.
